Moving to Kelowna can be an exciting experience for many retirees, families, and students. It is one of the most beautiful places in the country and the people are pretty great too. You will notice when walking down the street or on a hiking trail everyone will at least make eye contact with a slight nod or may say hello with a smile.

The weather in Kelowna is wonderful with four defined seasons; sunny and hot summer, vibrant autumn, mildly chilly winter, and balmy spring. On the surrounding mountains, the weather can be quite different than in the valley. For example, in the valley you will experience +5c with patches of sunlight beaming through the clouds, while at the ski hill it could be -20c and dumping 10cm of snow. You will be able to enjoy completely different weather just a short drive away at either Big White Ski Resort or Silver Star Ski Resort.

Outdoor culture is in abundance throughout the Okanagan Valley and Kelowna is no exception. Whether it’s biking, hiking, swimming or walking, people are outside all year round. Kelowna is home to a particularly vibrant cycling community. With so much enthusiasm for cycling, Kelowna is also home to great bike paths but we can sometimes forget they are there while driving - so be careful. Many of our highways also allow for bikers to ride beside the flow of traffic and the city is home to special events such as the Okanagan Trestles Tour from Kelowna to Penticton every July.

In Kelowna, the indoor activities are just a wondrous as the outdoor pursuits. The city is home to rich culture through music, arts, and media. We have live music almost every warm summer night downtown by the lake and the Parks Alive! programs sees all genres of music played in various neighbourhood parks throughout July and August. Live theatre, spoken word, book readings, and much more at the intimate cafes and bistros around the city. For those who are more classically inclined, Kelowna is also home to Opera Kelowna, the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra, and Ballet Kelowna with many performances throughout the year. Kelowna is also becoming a location of choice for the film community, with many new projects starting to take off and interest from major production companies continually increasing.

Kelowna is a vibrant city to call home, with something for everyone and a future that seems limitless. If you’re thinking of moving to Kelowna, contact Team Geen and we can help you find the perfect home or property in the perfect neighbourhood.
