Agriculture has long played a significant role in the Okanagan’s history, and it is still vital to the region today. Our area is well-known for making delicious fruits and veggies (among many other things), and with a growing farm-to-table movement, as well as a burgeoning dining scene, our thriving local farms seem set for many more years of success.

With all that said, it’s no surprise that we live in the sort of place where you can go on a farm tour loop! Basically, you can tour farms like wineries (there’s actually a winery in the loop too…) checking out fresh fruits and veggies, meeting the folks behind the operation and so much more.

The self-guided tour covers the Westside Farm Loop in West Kelowna and will appeal to both locals and tourists alike. Whether you’ve lived here your whole life, recently moved here or have guests visiting from out of town this summer, take an afternoon to enjoy some Okanagan farms this summer! After all, fresh Okanagan fruit is unique to our region!

The Westside Farm Loop includes:

  • Gellatly Nut Farm Regional Park

  • Gidda Farms

  • Griffin Farms

  • Lazy U Farm

  • Mountain Valley Farm

  • Paynter’s Fruit Market

  • Petterson Supernatural Horse & Farm Tour

  • Rabbit Hollow

  • Sweet Peas Little Farm

  • Westbank Corner Fruit Stall

  • Westbank Farmers’ Market

  • Westbank Harvest

Some things to keep in mind when touring the farms:

  • It’s probably a good idea to take a cooler. Certainly if you intend to buy some goodies.

  • The tour is self-guided, and the farms don’t all keep the same hours, so plan your route/check the hours of operation ahead of time.

  • Be careful and observant when on the farms. These are real operations, meaning that various equipment and machinery may be in operation at the time of your visit.

  • Different fruits have different harvest times. If you’re looking for a particular item, it may be wise to contact the farm(s) beforehand.

  • The Okanagan sun is hot! Don’t forget to take sunscreen and water!
